What Are The Core Principles Of The Republican Party?

 Freedom

As Americans, the freedoms that we enjoy are granted to us not by our government. Instead our founding documents state that we are granted these freedoms by our creator. As Republicans we believe in freedom as a means that we might achieve our dreams, goals, and aspirations in life. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are not just words from a bygone era. Rather, they are the basis for every American's quest to be the best they can be. Without these freedoms we cannot survive as a nation. We must defend freedom from those who wish to limit it.

The Free-Market System

The basis of our society has been the belief in the free-market system. As Republicans we must defend our right to a free-market system that does not have artificial controls imposed on it by the government. As individuals we must be able to determine what products and services we want and what prices we are willing to pay for them. The free-market system will allow for the consumers to determine where, when, and on which products they wish to spend their hard-earned dollars. This system also allows small businesses to achieve success and failure based on their value to their customers and not on the whims of a governmental agency.

Family Values

As Republicans we value, above all else, the well-being of our families. On this basis the liberties that we secure from both our creator and our founding documents allow us to place our Judeo-Christian values above all else. We must value to sancitity of marriage, the preciousness of life, the foundational beliefs of right & wrong, and the belief on our creator. These should be evident and present in all aspects of our life. Not to impose our beliefs on others; but to allow the free expression of our family and religious values throughout our everyday lives.

Secure Borders

Our nation is underseige from an increase in illegal immigration. Our pourous boarders not only effect our National Security, they also affect all cultural and economic aspects. The burdens brought on our nation from illegal immigration extend from our classrooms to our emergency rooms. The American Dream must not be based on a foundation of illegal activity. Rather, legal channels of immigration are available for those seeking a place in this nation. Without the rule of law we will find ourselves overwhelmed by the burdens resulting from insecure borders. We must secure our border to protect ourselves from terrorist threats and preserve our national and economic order.

Low Taxes

American's system of taxation is bloated, confusing, expansive, and overwhelming. We must simplify our tax system and strive to keep taxes low so that individuals, and not the government retain the power of spending. Our nation is experiencing a vast expansion of social and political spending that will result in the increase in taxation. It is this increase in taxation that will consolidate power in Washington D.C. as opposed to allowing individuals to spend their hard earned dollars on things they wish. Tax policies such as the Fair Tax and the Flat Tax must be explored further so that America can continue its properity.

Gun Rights

According to the Bill of Rights the right to keep and bear arms must not be infringed upon. As Republicans we must protect this basic right to bear arms.

Education

The education of our children must be an utmost priority of our government. However, the bloated bureaucracy in Washington creates an education system that is inefficient looses focus on the basic priorities of teaching our children. As Republicans, we must focus on the localization of education and allow for school choice, competition, and merit pay for educators. It is these principles that will allow for the improvement of our public schools and allow American students further success. With this firm basis we, as Americans, are able to position our country for success in the coming years with young, bright, and well-educated people entering the workforce.

Constitution

The Constitution is the basis of our nation and its laws. We must strictly interpret its meaning and apply it so that the wisdom of our founding fathers can help our nation prosper. Further, we must rely on such interpretation to provide the renumerated powers to the state and local governments. With the framework of this brilliant document we are able "to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity."

Fair, Open & Vigorous Debate

Democratic principles require a full, open and extended debate among competing ideas.  A legislative process that excludes half the representatives of the population is openly hostile to Democracy and freedom and can not be long tolerated.  The grave responsibility apportioned our elected Representatives cannot be faithfully executed when bills are hidden from view during the debate and when debate is rushed for the purpose of obscuring the true intent and content of the matter at hand.
